Oil Search – Taza

From Iraq

A number of large oil and gas discoveries have been made in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq over the past decade with major global companies establishing positions in the country. Oil Search applied for, and was awarded, a Production Sharing Contract (PSC) for the Taza exploration block following seismic operations.

Mipela GeoSolutions are supporting the Oil Search Taza Project with desktop GIS and WebGIS using X-Info Maps.

Desktop GIS support has provided figures for Environmental Impact Studies, plotting new survey results as well as historical locations for the following:

  • water test points
  • groundwater monitoring
  • air sample
  • traffic monitoring
  • soil sample sites.

Profiles for pipeline hydrostatic modelling have also been derived from Lidar data for preliminary pipeline route selection.

X-Info Maps has been used as a web GIS platform to provide the project team with visualisation tools to plan their surveys in relation to previous surveys. Currently there are 19 users with more to be added as the Project expands.
