Taking mobile data capture to another level

Mipac is a global leader in operational technology, control systems and engineering services, specialising in metal and mineral process control, automation and performance data solutions around the world.

Earlier this year, Mipac started using Mipela’s X-Info Suite configured to provide a Field Asset Auditing System (FAAS) for field electrical, instrumentation and control system audits at various mine sites around the world. This solution saves costs and time by automating workflows and reporting and provides Mipac users with easy access to a single-source-of-truth for core Field Asset Audited business information. It also allows personnel to seamlessly perform these complex asset site audit processes through an intuitive and easy-to-use interface.

The FAAS also provides automated exception and compliance reporting, as components of the project are completed. The data can also be used to automate the preparation of progressive status reports and progress management in preparation and delivery of the project.

EOFY… Let us help you!

Can you believe we’re already at the end of June, halfway through the year, marking the end of another Financial Year? End of the Financial Year (EOFY) marks a busy time for a lot of companies and sometimes the to-do list is a mile long.

If you’re needing expertise with all things X-Info Suite, let the team at Mipela Support do the hard work for you. Whether it’s a customised report showing how many engagements have been undertaken or how many contacts have been created; X-Info Connect or GIS data updates; system enhancements; or a comparison report of BYDA enquiries received this financial year to the last grouped by asset, location, enquiry and/or activity. We can help you get these tasks checked off your to-do list.

Send your request to support@mipela.com.au or call us on 07 3252 5589 and we’ll log a new Support Request and then assign to one of our Specialists to action.

Kamapim update

One Special Guest and then it was Policy Review Time

April saw us kicking off the quarter with Scott Mitchell from APA Group kindly joining our team to talk about his journey as a Pipeliner.

Scott showed us the application of GIS in his pipeline projects and how GIS and engineering can work together to solve complex situations and challenges.

Thanks again Scott for a great presentation and taking the time out for our Team.

Moving right along… each year, Mipela undertakes a comprehensive review of all policies and procedures, with the latest updates issued to our staff in June.

Over the past quarter, our Kamapim focus has been centered on our Information Security Management System (ISMS) policies.

If you are new to ISMS, it is a methodology that defines and demonstrates a companies approach to information security and privacy.

It plays a critical role in helping us identify and address the threats and opportunities surrounding our valuable information and related assets.

This proactive stance protects Mipela from potential security breaches and ensures we are prepared to mitigate any disruptions if, and when, a threat is detected.

Robust information security is essential not just for Mipela internally but also to provide assurance to our clients that we take their privacy and data security seriously.

Our ISMS includes policies, procedures, and controls designed to meet the three core objectives of information security, known as the ‘CIA triad’:

  1. Confidentiality – Ensuring that only authorised people and devices can access the data
  2. Integrity – Maintaining the accuracy and completeness of data
  3. Availability – Ensuring data can be accessed when needed.

By adhering to these principles, we mitigate risks through improving our information security practices and avoiding costly information security breaches and cyber-attacks.

Our continuous improvement model is a key focus at Mipela. By embedding security at the heart of our daily work practices, we not only protect our company, but also safeguard the data of our clients.

It’s an interesting landscape that continues to change and challenge us and our clients, with new ways to login, authenticate and do our work, I wonder what that will look like in two year’s time! I’ll leave you with that thought.

#projectMAD 2024 wrap up – Brissie to Bay ride

#projectMAD is an initiative where you find a moment each day to make a difference to someone else’s life and celebrate it. No MAD act is too small.

In fact, some might say that Mipela’s founder and managing director, Hayden McDonald has gone completely mad!

Every year for the past fourteen, Hayden has rallied friends, family, team sponsors and colleagues, aptly named the Mipela GeoSolutions Social Cycling Team, to support the Brissie to Bay fundraising bike ride for MS. And fundraise he certainly has! Hayden and his team have raised a whopping $416,926 for MS over this time.

I’ll just leave you to think about what that means to people with MS…

Here’s some pics from this years event.

And who knows what this MAD man has up his sleeves for next year?

The importance of Multi-Factor Authentication

Is Your Business Using Multi-Factor Authentication?

With the rise in threats to password security, multi-factor authentication has become a vital tool for protecting both consumer and business applications.

What is MFA?

Multi-factor authentication is a security method that requires two forms of identification to access resources and data. This extra layer of protection helps businesses monitor and safeguard their most sensitive information and networks.

Why Use MFA?

Businesses use MFA to protect both personal and business assets. It’s crucial because it stops cybercriminals from stealing, destroying, or accessing your internal data. Even if a password is compromised, MFA ensures that a second form of approval is needed, making it much harder for intruders to gain access.

Next Steps

Our team will be reaching out to you in the coming weeks to discuss MFA, if you don’t already have it in place. If you want to talk about MFA sooner, you can contact the Support team or on 07 3252 5589.
